" However if more and more foreign businesses become reluctant to work with the country due to its controversial human rights policies, that will surely affect the country’s ability to grow further and flourish."

This has not stopped business's up to press they are quite happy to take advantage, of the slave labour opportunities that are readily available in china. There are no morals among the money making corporations of this world, and the Chinese government will do whatever it wants, no one is going to stop whatever they have planned no matter how much we jump up and down bleating......What however is going to happen in the long term,is that the people of china will eventually rise up against their masters and demand a better deal for themselves which after all is what this is all about, censorship and preventing the people of china seeing the truth in their situation and doing something about it.

I suspect Googles position is driven by ulterior motives but the hacking attack has provided a suitable cover story.

Time will tell, but in the end only the people of china can change things no amount of outside pressure will make any difference to the Chinese government who hold all the right cards to win this hand.
